The Sumo tournament is on at Ryogoku, Tokyo.
Though still suffering severely from the pandemic, the deficit decreased to 3.24 billion yen from 5.026 billion yen since FY 2020, media reported in March.
New initiative is that the Sumo Association intends to strengthen its advertising and merchandise sales divisions, aiming for a profit structure that is not overly dependent on admission fee revenues.
