Tomioka Hachiman Shrine
2022. 6. 5.
Tomioka Hachiman Shrine (Tomioka Hachimangū) is the largest Hachiman shrine in Tokyo. The shrine was originally established in Fukagawa in 1627.
The Shrine is also known as the birthplace of Kanjin-zumō.
Kanjin-zumo refers to sumo matches held to raise funds for the construction and restoration of temples and shrines.
A quiet space in a busy commercial district, time flows differently, inheriting the tradition from the past.
I am particularly fond of use of red in the architecture. Aesthetic colour sense passed on.
